What to Expect During Your First Consultation
When faced with the possibility of divorce or other family law matters, most people don’t know what to expect during their initial consultation. Even though this seems like a scary task, relax…. Laura Heard understands what you are going through and knows how to solve your problems.
From your first contact with our office, know that everything you say will be kept strictly confidential. During your first consultation, be prepared to discuss the divorce process, matters pertaining to any minor children, division of assets and liabilities, child/spousal support and attorney’s fees and costs. In order for Laura to provide you with a plan, she will ask you many personal questions. Just remember that the attorney-client privilege is in effect and nothing you tell her can be repeated to anyone without your permission.
What Makes Laura Heard Different?
“A big part of my practice is counseling people, helping them to cope and realize that things will get better. Those lawyers that do a great deal of advertising on television often assign their cases out, most to young lawyers. I don’t do that. When you hire my law firm, you get me. I’m the one who takes care of each and every case that this law firm takes on.” -Laura
If you hire Laura, you’re hiring a compassionate lawyer who cares about your needs and concerns. She will never pressure you into doing something you don’t want to do. Our attentive staff works around the clock to ensure that you are satisfied with the results of your case.
Probate Consultations
When a person dies, their will must pass through probate except under certain circumstances. The specifics of probate and the laws regarding enforcement and carrying out the wishes in a will vary by state. During the probate consultation, the decedent, the will, the beneficiaries and other details are discussed.
In any consultation, once Laura has gathered enough information to assess your specific situation, she can provide you with a strategy plan advising you on your primary and any other related issues. After the plan is developed she can provide you with a professional estimate and explain the billing procedures.
By this time, you will have a clear picture of what to expect. You will also have received advice related to family, financial and other matters. Whether you choose to work with the Laura D. Heard Law firm or not, the first consultation is an informative and valuable meeting that will provide you with what steps need to be taken so that your problems can be solved.
